FabLabs are talked of as being the new industrial revolution, favouring a culture of Do it yourself and pushing collaboration as the natural environment for the creative and the innovative. This book is the result of a collaboration between the director of a laboratory (Laure Morel) specializing in the study of the processes of innovation and design, and a considered economist (Serge Le Roux) specializing in the relations between technologies, work and territory. Staff-Less Libraries: Innovative Staff Design considers the challenges of this approach, its pros and cons, identifies international experiences, and discusses best practices. It presents a step-by-step approach to implementing a staffless library and/or services, and seeks to inspire professionals to share experiences and optimize their library. Staff-less public libraries, enabled by technological developments, represent a significant and innovative aspect of the development of public libraries. The concept radically enlarges the availability of user access to public libraries. Some Danish public library branches have, for example, increased their weekly opening hours from 20 to 80 hours per week. In Denmark, the concept has been quite successful, increasing the number of staff-less libraries from 81 public library units in 2011 to 260 in 2014. From a longer view, however, the staff-less library concept contributes to the modernization of public libraries by further opening the library. Many library professionals have been surprised by the near absence of vandalism through the staffl-ess opening hours. According to the latest trend, the staffless library model is gradually moving from thinly populated rural areas and suburban neighborhoods to urban contexts. This book explores the concept, hence furthering the debate. Presently, his research interests among others concern the future role of public libraries, in particular, related to the staff-less library concept.
In response to the need to improve road traffic operation, researchers implement advanced technologies and integration of systems and data, and develop state-of-the-art applications to assist traffic engineers. This SpringerBrief introduces three novel Web applications which can be an exceptional resource and a good visualization tool for traffic operators, managers, and analysts to monitor the congestion, and analyze incidents and signal performance measures. The applications offer more detailed analysis providing users with insights from different levels and perspectives. The benefit of providing these automated and interactive visualization tools is more efficient estimation of the local transport networks performance, thus facilitating the decision making process in case of emergency events.

A state-of-the-art exploration in the field of hand exoskeletons revealed that available products are unsuitable for space applications because of their bulkiness and mass. This book proposes a novel approach to the development of hand exoskeletons, based on an innovative soft robotics concept that relies on the exploitation of electroactive polymers operating as sensors and actuators, on a combination of electromyography and mechanomyography for detection of the users will and on neural networks for control. The result is a design that should enhance astronauts performance during extravehicular activities. In summary, the advantages of the described approach are a low-weight, high-flexibility exoskeleton that allows for dexterity and compliance with the users will.

Die Konsumenten beteiligen sich an dem Kaufprozess, geben Inhalte preis, diskutieren über Produkte und geben Empfehlungen ab, zum Beispiel für andere Nutzer. Das User Generated Branding ist ein Weg für Unternehmen, sozialen Medien zu nutzen, um die Möglichkeiten dieses innovativen Marketings auszuschöpfen. Die Marke, die Produkte oder auch das gesamte Unternehmen zu repräsentieren ist das Ziel. This book is a synthesis of the complex interdependencies between user interface design of digital screen and learning process. It is analyzed the impact of digital revolution on learning, phases of digital textbooks use and development; specific features of educational system & learning environment; psycho-pedagogical characteristics of XXI students; user interface design topology; user interface design features of digital textbooks in accordance with human thinking paradigms; critical thinking of user interfaces and content (linear, systems, global and metasystems design approach). One special chapter describes innovative organizational forms of learning with digital textbooks. Metasystems learning design of digital textbooks will be of particular interest to the readers because this is an innovative approach of learning design, which proved the experimental data of the instructional dynamic and flexible strategy. It proved the practical application of didactical model of digital textbooks for chemistry and mathematics. The main benefits for reader refers on understanding the applicability of metasystems learning design for digital textbook use and development, in particular for STEM education. Dr. Elena Railean is a researcher and lecturer in the field of applied learning theory and design. She was graduated in 1987 from the State University of Moldova. In 2012, she was awarded her PhD on the topic of psychopedagogical fundaments of digital textbook (published as Psychopedagogical bases of electronic textbook development, by LUMEN in 2015 as an award of Minister of National Education, Romania). She conducted Erasmus IANUS postdoctoral project Learning theory and metacognitive strategies. Through her postdoctoral studies, Elena Railean has been actively involved in various scientific activities, such as Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology (2014); Handbook of Research on Pedagogical Innovations for Sustainable Development (2014); COST expert (since 2015); Scientific Committee of International Conference on Sciences of Education ICSED 2015 and others. She has been an associate editor of eLearning Romania since 2014, Problems of Education in the 21st Century (2015), Excellence in Research and Innovation for Humanity (2015), and others.
